Who Can Request Murray County Birth Records

Oklahoma law limits who can get a certified birth certificate. Under Title 63, Section 1-323, only specific people qualify. The rules were tightened in November 2016.

Eligible requesters include the subject of the record (if of legal age), a parent named on the certificate, a legal guardian with court documentation, and an attorney acting for the subject with signed authorization. Extended family members can also request records, but they need authorization and proof of relationship. This includes spouses, stepparents, grandparents, and adult children or grandchildren. Every request must come with a clear copy of a valid government-issued photo ID.

Birth records 125 years or older are considered open. You still pay the $15 fee and show ID. But you do not need to prove your connection to the person on the record.

Murray County Birth Certificate Filing

To correct an error on a Murray County birth certificate, submit supporting documents through the OSDH amendment process. The fee is $40. That includes one certified copy of the corrected record. Adoptions, paternity cases, delayed registrations, and other legal actions can take up to four months to process.
